As I previously posted a week or so ago our little one just turned One and we celebrated with a boho chic party. Her first birthday was inspired by her nursery of the same theme {as pictured below}. It was a bright and cheery color scheme adding in a few exotic elements and a little hippie vibe to the mix.
Juli from Juli Labrecque Photography captured all of the details of our little special day and she did an amazing job!
For the dessert table we included oreo truffles pops, lemon bars, key lime cupcakes, chocolate covered oreos and sugar cookies to complete the dessert table. I ordered lemon macarons from Bridge City Cakes and they were delicious!...wish they had a shop where I could pick up a few macarons whenever I have a macaron craving but they operate on a per order basis. I made a mini carrot cake for Ava's smash cake finished off with a cream cheese ruffled buttercream frosting.
Table backdrop was extra fabric from when I asked my sewing sister :) to sew up a crib comforter before Ava was born. I used the comforter for the cake smash to continue the theme.
I created the yarn pom sticks following this tutorial I found online and the garland using this tutorial from Green Wedding Shoes. I thought they added a homespun bohemian feel to the table.
I couldn't find any placecard holders that fit the style so I asked my husband to create the wooden placecard holders which I thought would bring more of a natural feel to the table.
Ava's birthday cake was inspired by the birthday invitations and was a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting on one tier and a lemon coconut cake on the other.
I found the lace scallop paper cups and the cupcake liners that had an exotic look to them from Shop Sweet LuLu.
Paper straws, chevron favor bags and wooden cutlery were from Green Munch. Plates and napkins were found at Superstore, a Canadian grocery store a few months before the party.
I found these free invitations that are customizable and thought they would be perfect for the party and asked the designer, Jayme Marie Designs, if she could create some chevron party flags and food labels for the party and she came up with these adorable ones that coordinated perfectly with the invite!
Grass placemats were found at Dollarama as well as the Morroccan lanterns.
A huge thank you to Juli of Juli Labrecque Photography for joining our celebration and capturing the beautiful snapshots of our little one's special day!
